Hand-picked by music mogul, Sean "P Diddy" Combs, Day26 (the reality TV veteran quintet) -- comprised of Brian Andrews, Michael McCluney, Qwanell "Q" Mosley, Robert Curry, and Willie Taylor -- has finally made their much heralded musical entry with their impressive, eponymous Bad Boy Records' debut.
Fueled by the set's premier offering, the lively, hard-hitting dance floor anthem, "Got Me Going" -- helmed by Mario Winans -- Day26 is exactly what's to be expected from this talented bunch of singing and dancing future superstars.
The album opens with the raucous "I'm The Reason," with its tribal bass –n- drum feel. Next, there's the smoothed out, "In My Bed," a sultry number about going all the way, while "Silly Love" is a feel-good, mid tempo ditty that talks about the thrill of being head over heels with someone. The slinky "Come With Me" is another ode to good old-fashioned S-E-X.
Elsewhere, there's the lovely "Co Star," a lush track that really showcases the solid harmonies of the five men and gives further proof as to why these were the chosen ones. On "Come In," the guys extend an invite into their respective lives and give listeners a key to unlock the doors to their souls. "Since You've Been Gone," the group's projected second single, is a heartfelt ballad about lost love and the desperate need to work it out and get back together.
Labelmates and "Making the Band 4" housemates, Danity Kane and Donnie Klang, join Day26 on the groovy posse cut "Ain't Going." And the group closes with the up-tempo version of "Exclusive (No Excuses)," first heard on the finale of the reality show's first season.
Overall, Day26's self-titled debut is a winner. With only a few small missteps -- bland production on "If It Wasn't For You" and "Don't Fight The Feeling" and a little too much excessively used lyrical content -- Day26 is definitely in the music industry for the long haul. Meet Brian, Mike, "Q," Robert and Willie -- America's new favorite boy band!
