Texas' best kept secret, Twisted Black, is ready for exposure. As shocking as it may sound, Twisted Black is no stranger to the rap industry, in fact, he is well known throughout the underground for his vivid word play and knack for telling "gangster tales." He has also released two independent CDs that ignited enough flames to grasp the attention of TVT Records. Though the odds of becoming a platinum artist don't favor the 34-year old, because he's locked down with a number for a name, he is still releasing his version of Street Fame.
Throughout his TVT debut, Twisted Black glorifies his days of getting his grind on. He continues to make it extremely clear that he is indeed a hustler, as he confesses to falling in love with caine. That being said, it's no surprise that he is currently behind bars due to allegations of drug conspiracy charges.
Facing conspiracy charges is a cake walk in comparison to the life he describes growing up "In The Jungle." After labeling himself an F-up, Twisted Black uses "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" as his therapeutic session to rationalize his career as a hustler. It also reveals his pain with lines like, "Imagine a twelve gauge shot to your face / and ten years later, still got the gun powder taste in your mouth." On the flip side of things, he adds entertainment to the album with a more upbeat track like "I'm A Fool With It," where he gloats about "slamming Cadi doors to twentysomethings under [his] Capri."
Lyrically, Twisted Black has above average skills as he chronicles the life of a hustler, but the album's tracks seem to have the same sound. Nevertheless, he delivers a solid, yet, slightly mediocre performance.
