Rap superstar, Eminem, has been immortalized as a piece of art. No, it's not exactly like the cliffs in South Dakota known as Mount Rushmore, or Michelango's marble statue of David. The artist did his piece in what else, but actual M&M's.
Artist Enrique Ramos chose the chocolate candy when he decided to create his own art piece of Eminem.
Some liked the portrait so much, they decided to purchase it. It has been acquired by Ripley's Believe It or Not! to grace the halls of one of their museums.
"Our customers have a pretty good eye for art. They won't be disappointed by Eminem in M&M's," said Tim O'Brien, VP of Communications for Ripley's Believe It or Not! "This thing looks good enough to eat."
According to a press release, the Eminem portrait is made from more than 1,000 individual M&M's and measures 40 inches by 30 inches. It took more than 8 pounds of M&M's to create, quite possibly making it the highest-calorie work of art known to man.
Ramos, who lives in both Orlando and Mexico, is not afraid to dabble in unusual media. He's previously painted the Mona Lisa on the back of a cockroach, and has also worked with flies, beans, animal bones and bats.
The piece will be added to Ripley's art collection that includes Princess Diana made from lint, The Last Supper in burnt toast and Michael Jackson done in gumballs.
However, it wasn't clear, at press time, where the Eminem portrait would be on display.
