Hip-hop band, The Roots, revealed via OkayPlayer.com that they are alive and well, after a near fatal tour bus crash while traveling throughout Paris, France on Wednesday night (November 19). Drummer ?uestlove detailed the crash on their website. "In reality, the crash was all of about 7 seconds," Quest wrote in an e-mail to the site. "But to do a 360 on the highway and end up ramped up (the van that crashed into ours was UNDER our double decker bus) in the air .... is .... well ... a frigging miracle." He adds, "Dog we are soooo alive right now. And yes we went through all that sh*t people go through when they go through accidents. Dazed. Amazed. Grateful. Laughing?" ...
Hip-hop mogul, Diddy, is getting a little more practice in his acting career. The rapper/businessman is set to appear as a prosecutor on the hit television show, "CSI: Miami." CBS has confirmed that the mogul has agreed to a two-episode appearance, where he will portray a prosecutor who doesn't get along with police Lt. Horatio Caine, played by David Caruso. The episodes with Diddy are said to air sometime during winter. ... Rapper Nelly will also have a recurring role this season in "CSI: New York." ...
Diddy and Nelly aren't the only ones trying to do the acting thing. 50 Cent is as well. According to Billboard, the rapper/actor will try his hand with the English audience as he portrays a ruthless loan shark in the upcoming UK film, "Dead Man Running." 50's character demands that an ex-convict, who is trying to live a straight life, deliver $150,000 to pay him off in just one day. Filming for the movie has just begun. However, no date of release has been announced. ...
Platinum-selling rapper, Chamillionaire, recently revealed details about his forthcoming third album. Via a press release, the rapper unveiled the album's title, Venom, and that he's found a new home -- Universal Republic Records. The new album is expected to hit stores in early 2009, via his own imprint Chamillitary/Universal Republic. Cham has also re-launched his official website, Chamillionaire.com with a new design, new exclusive content, and an advance preview of Venom's first song, "Creepin (Solo)," featuring Ludacris. ...
Chicago rapper Common recently launched his brand new website, ThinkCommon.com, complete with a daily blog that is packed with news, videos, and tiny robots. In an interview with MTV, the rapper said he's finally given into the internet after years of trying to stay away. "I've definitely been avoiding technology. It was due to me wanting to focus on other things, and I didn't get drawn into it until now," he said. Common also revealed that when his forthcoming album, Universal Mind Control, drops in December, he plans to sell it for 99 cents. It's no joke either. "Zune worked out something with the label," he explained to MTV. "Zune has been very supportive of good music. They've been doing stuff with N.E.R.D. and me. I've done a commercial with me and Afrika Bambaataa. They worked out something with the label where you can get the album for 99 cents, and I'm grateful." ...
