A recording company has filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against rapper Lil Kim, claiming she hasn't delivered material required in her contract.
According to the Associated Press, Brookland Media filed the lawsuit Tuesday (October 7) in Manhattan's state Supreme Court. However, Kim's lawyer, Londell McMillan, says Brookland sued "to leverage their own position" in the contract dispute.
The lawsuit claims that the company contracted Lil Kim this year and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on recordings, equipment and advance payments.
But later, Kim tried to change the contract and refused to continue recording unless Brookland agreed. The papers state that the rapper has only recorded a few tracks toward a new album by the beginning of September.
Brookland wants the courts to enforce their contract and bar Kim from recording with another label.
