Kanye West has announced the official date of release for his upcoming 808s and Heartbreak, after revealing two weeks ago that he's was pushing the album's release up. During a surprise appearance at T.I.'s Myspace-sponsored show in Los Angeles on Friday (October 3), West announced that the album will now drop on November 25, from its previous date of December 16. "We just finished the album. I just got back from Hawaii earlier today," he told the audience before breaking into a track titled "Heartless," which he confirmed is the set's second single, reports Billboard.com. ...
Singer R. Kelly was awarded a $3.4 million in back pay by an independent arbitrator for performances on the Double Up Tour last fall and winter, which also included Ne-Yo for a short period of time. Kellz initiated legal action back in February against Rowe Entertainment while he was still on tour. Kelly completed the tour while the payment dispute was still ongoing. In court, it was revealed that the promoters, Rowe Entertainment, had sold off nonexistent shares in Kelly's shows without the singer's knowledge or permission, and the arbitrators held Rowe responsible for the resulting lawsuits from investors. "I have complete sympathy for all the good people who were swindled by Rowe," Kelly said in a statement, "and I will do everything I can to help them get their money back from him." ...
Chi-Town rapper Lupe Fiasco recently told MTV that he's put his third album on hold to focus on albums from artists on his 1st & 15th label. According to the rapper, he wants to be the CEO and not the label's star. "Matthew Santos, Sarah Green -- I'm actually working on putting their records together, so I won't start working on my album until next year," Lupe explained. "I gotta be CEO. It's my company, so I got to step back, because if I start doing my stuff and their stuff, I'd be like, 'Yo, why don't you come do this hook? Why don't you give me that song?' So I'm just trying not to be selfish." ...
Sightings of Dipset founder Cam'ron has been almost non-existent over the past year, but he did pop up a couple times, and during his last sighting, he revealed that he would release an album titled Crime Pays later this year. Well, that project will now take a little longer than expected. Dipset A&R Duke Da God told UDub News that the album won't drop until sometime next year. There was no release date at press time. ...
New York rapper Saigon popped up on his MySpace blog this week, announcing that he's started working on a second album, despite his long awaited debut The Greatest Story Never Told never hitting shelves. Accoring to Sai, he's hard at work on a project he's calling Thank God. "I'm sorry I haven't been on the scene lately, I'm busy working on my second album titled 'Thank God' even though the first one has never come out. Hahahaha... ," he wrote. "Gotta stay working homie." There is no word as to when his album is slated for release. ...
