After taking the no. 1 position last week, edging out Young Jeezy, rockers Metallica hold on to the throne this week despite new releases from Ne-Yo and Nelly.
Ne-Yo comes in second this week with Year of The Gentleman, selling 250,000 copies. The album comes on the heels of two no. 1 debuts -- 2006's In My Own Words and 2007's Because Of You.
Right behind Ne-Yo is Nelly, who nabbed no. 3 with his latest album Brass Knuckles. The rapper's first album since 2004 sells nearly 84,000 to open, despite selling over 700,000 units in the first week of his last two albums -- Suit and Sweat -- which dropped on the same day.
Atlanta's Young Jeezy fell four spots to no. 6 this week as The Recession sells another 59,875 albums. After three weeks, it has sold a total of 410,380 units.
DJ Khaled earned his third straight top 15 album debut this week, when his latest effort We Global selling just over 49,000 units to land at no. 7. The album features a line-up that includes T-Pain, Rick Ross, Plies, Trick Daddy, Pitbull, Flo Rida, Ace Hood, plus New York rappers Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Nas and Fabolous.
Lil Wayne, after 15 weeks, maintains his hold on the top 10. His album Tha Carter III landed at no. 9 this week, selling just over 43,000 copies, thanks to his current single "Mrs. Officer" featuring Bobby Valentino. The album has shifted 2,453,110 copies to date.
Compton rapper The Game fell three spots to no. 10 with L.A.X., which sold another 41,535 copies. In four weeks, the album has sold 418,640 copies.
That's the top 10. Aside from that, Raphael Saadiq's The Way I See It opened at no. 19 with 23,000 sold this week.
According to Billboard.com, sales this week are up 1.1% from last week's sum and down a 16.5% from the same week last year.
