A matter of less than 2,000 albums determined who landed the coveted top spot on the Billboard 200 this week. So who earned the throne? The Game or metal band Slipknot?

Unfortunately, The Game got edged out of what would have been his third consecutive time landing at no. 1. Instead, his new album L.A.X. landed at no. 2, as Slipknot's new album All Hope Is Gone took no. 1, earning their first chart-topping effort of their careers.

The Game sold 238,382 copies of L.A.X., making him the runner-up, but still a respectable position although his previous two projects sold significantly better. His 2005 LP The Documentary and the 2006 follow-up Doctor's Advocate both opened at no. 1, and scanned 587,000 and 358,000 units, respectively.

His current single, "My Life" featuring Lil Wayne, also currently sits at no. 26 on Billboard's Hot 100 single's chart.

Lil Wayne latest is still moving records, and refuses to go away. Tha Carter III scanned another 54,000 copies this week, putting him at no. 6. To date, the release has sold just over 2.3 million copies.

Beyonce's lil sis, Solange Knowles, released her sophomore album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams last week. It lands at no. 9, selling 46,000 copies.

Later down the line is Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad re-release, which grabbed the no. 12 position with 37,345 copies sold, while Ice Cube's new one Raw Footage moved 30,337 in its second week, putting him at no. 14.

Warner Bros Records recording artist, V.I.C., opened at no. 73 with his debut album Beast, selling just over 7,000 units. The album boasts the singles "Get Silly" and "Wobble."

According to Billboard.com, sales this week are up 2.3% from last week's sum but down 6.5% from the same week last year.
