Suge Knight was arrested in Las Vegas Wednesday morning (August 27), after allegedly beating a woman, news channels are calling his girlfriend.

According to the Associated Press, police responded to a report of a car hitting a curb near the Las Vegas Strip, and upon arrival found Knight standing over his longtime girlfriend with a knife in his hand.

Police say the woman tried to run from the car, but Knight grabbed her.

"This was apparently Marion Knight's girlfriend that was riding with him in his car at the time. She started punching him while in the car (he was the driver and she was the passenger). In an effort to escape she grabbed the steering wheel and steered it to the curb. That's when she got out of the car and tried to run and he caught up to her," said Las Vegas Lt. Chris Carroll told KLAS-TV.

43-year-old Knight was arrested, and charged with a deadly weapon, battery, and domestic violence.

His girlfriend was not identified.

Additionally, Ecstasy and hydrocodone was allegedly in his possession, adding the extra charge of possession of a controlled substance.

At press time, Knight was being held in a Las Vegas jail.
