Popular radio shock jock Wendy Williams had her new talk-show picked up for a full season next year, according to reports, after a successful six-week preview that brought her to the homes of people across the nation.
Fox Television Stations will launch her hour-long daytime program, "The Wendy Williams Show," in mid-2009 after its preview run ends this Friday (August 22).
According to BlackVoices.com, Williams saw her program increase in ratings through August 13th, thanks in part to her legions of listens on New York City radio.
"Everything about the Wendy preview clicked for our stations, from conception to promotion to hitting the air," Fox senior vice president of programming Frank Cicha told AOL's BlackVoices. "It completely broke the mold. The show is now a proven winner, and we can't wait to see it debut across the country next year."
With the news, Williams is excited, and at times, wondered herself about the fate of the show. "Doing the daily show for the past six weeks has really been one of the most exciting times in my life," she said. "It has given me the chance to be myself while living out my dream and connecting with my fans on a whole new level."
During its trial run, "The Wendy Williams Show" ran in New York (WNYW-TV), Los Angeles (KTTV-TV), Dallas (KDFW-TV) and Detroit (WJBK-TV). Next year, it goes nation wide.
