T-Pain, David Banner, Rick Ross Take Top Honors At 3rd Ozone Awards; Pimp C Honored

Despite fists being thrown earlier in the evening, the third annual Ozone Awards, held in Houston this year, went down in the history books as a success.
Before the show started though, Houston rappers, Mike Jones and Trae, got into a scuffle backstage, resulting Mike getting punched, and Trae getting escorted out of the building, but was able to return later.
However, the ceremony had several high points. At one point during the event, southern and west coast artists united onstage for a tribute to the late Pimp C of UGK. In addition to Scarface, David Banner, and Big Boi, Too Short and Bun B ran through some of the late rapper's more memorable verses over the years -- including verses from Jay-Z'z "Big Pimpin'," Outkast's "Int'l Players Anthem," and UGK's "One Day" and Bun B's "Angel In The Sky."
Bun B thanked everyone after the performance was finished, reminding the crowd to cherish their loved ones. "I want to thank everybody," he said. "When your time comes, make sure that you right."
Later on, Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince was presented with the Living Legends Award, which was presented to him by the Geto Boyz, while David Banner was given the Pimp C Award (Trillest Artist), and T-Pain took home the TJ's DJ's Tastemaker Award for his trendsetting music and fashion sense.
Other awards winners included Rick Ross who took home Best Rap Album honors for Trilla; Lil Wayne who took home the Best Rap Artist and Best Lyricist awards; Chris Brown with Best R&B Artist; and UGK for Best Rap Group.
