So it's true, the rumors of Lil Wayne and T-Pain forming a group are true, the Cash Money Records artist said this week.
The rapper spoke to MTV on Monday (June 16) and simply responded "Yeah" when asked if it was true. He told MTV the pair just see eye-to-eye and are very much alike, so it works.
"We both have the same energy," Weezy said. "I don't sleep. If you ask anybody, I don't sleep. I think it's the cousin of death. As much as you sleep, you're impersonating death to me. He don't sleep. I play all day. He plays all day and all night. The connection is crazy. He loves to be creative, he loves to work; I love to create, I love to work. He really wants people to respect his rapping; I really want people to respect my harmonizing."
Other than side projects, his solo career is very much in overdrive, as news broke Tuesday (June 17) that the first week's numbers for his recently released Tha Carter III album are in. And yes, he's cracked the 1 million mark easily, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The news comes as reports confirmed last week that he had sold an astounding 423,000 units during the day of the album's release. Now, with the first week numbers in, he records bigger numbers than Kanye West's 2007 album, Graduation, which was holding onto the best sales week title for quite sometime with 957,000 copies sold in its opening week.
Although Weezy has said several times throughout the week, and even before his album dropped, that he wasn't concerned with numbers, he was surprised when the numbers for the first day came back.
With his star power at an all time high, Lil Wayne announces that he will hit the road beginning June 27.
