A new documentary, called "Two Turntables And A Microphone," going over the investigation of the unsolved murder of Jam Master Jay will make its premiere on Tuesday (June 3) at The 9th Annual Hollywood Black Film Festival (HBFF).

The documentary was produced by the late DJ's cousin Phonz and directed by Guy Logan. It chronicles Jam Master Jay's life, as well as his unsolved murder, which took place in his Hollis, Queens recording studio, on October 30, 2002.

"It's Jam Master Jay's life story man, telling what happened to him," Phonz told BallerStatus.com back in February. "I was born and raised with Jam Master Jay and Run DMC, traveled around the world with him and now we doing this movie. I created the movie to be like a tribute, man, just to tell who Jam Master Jay was."

As he explained then, it's not focused solely around his murder, but would also celebrate his life. And feature interviews and appearances by the likes of Russell Simmons, 50 Cent, Kid Rock, Run DMC, LL Cool and Rick Ruben, among others.

"We celebrating his life. We celebrate what Jay has done for hip-hop and this industry, as well as dive into his murder," he said. "We really get into what happened to Jam Master Jay. Six people in the studio, one person gets killed and nobody knows anything. That's a problem. It's time to address the situation."

To date, his murder remains unsolved.

"Jam Master Jay is a legend. He should be remembered and reflected upon," Onyxx member, Sticky Fingaz, said in a statement to BallerStatus. "He started my music career as well as many others. People need to know about his life and what happened to him. The movie shows you what justice is in America. A legend is murdered in front of 4 or 5 witnesses and the case is still unsolved? It's a wake up call."

The film's premiere is slated to be one of the most anticipated Tues night, with confirmed celebs such as Rev. Run, Outkast, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, Onyx and others, which takes place at The Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, starting at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to "Two Turntables And A Microphone," over 119 filmmakers from around the world will showcase 27 features, 58 shorts, 18 documentaries, 12 student films, two music videos and two animated films.
