The Charts: Bun B Lands At No. 2 With Sophomore Set

This week's includes a few newcomers, but only one new release cracked the top 5 -- that's from Bun B.
The legendary southern rapper made his highest chart debut to date as a solo artist, as his sophomore solo set, II Trill, opened at no. 2 this week, selling 98,000 copies.
The Rap-A-Lot Records release follows up Bun B's 2005 solo debut, Trill, which peaked at no. 6 with 118,000 copies sold in its opening week.
British songstress, Leona Lewis, glided one spot outside the top 5, coming in at no. 6 this week with Spirit. The set managed to sell another 50,000 copies, putting her seven week total to a 668,000 tally.
Right behind Lewis is Mariah Carey's E=MC2, which experienced a 23% sales decrease, selling just 45,000 copies this week, putting her total at 932,000, just under platinum certified.
To round out the top 10 is Madonna's latest, Hard Candy, which nabbed the no. 9 spot with 39,000 units scanned, as she nears gold sales of 500,000.
Other debuts this week includes singer/songwriter Jesse McCartney's third studio album, Departure, which entered at no. 14 with 30,000 copies sold. McCartney is the author of Leona Lewis smash single, "Bleeding Love." He also boasts his own first top 10 hit on Billboard Hot 100 with his lead single "Leavin'."
A lot later down the line is indie Chicago hip-hop duo, The Cool Kids, who's EP, The Bake Sale, entered at no. 152, selling 4,300 copies. The duo consists of Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish, who released the EP via their own independent label C.A.K.E. Recordings.
According to Billboard.com, album sales this week are down 3.1% from last week's sum with 7.2 million units and down 13.3% from the same week last year.
