Nas Explains Tupac Beef, Track With Biggie Never Recorded

Nas
Nas has never been one to shy away from controversy, and the title of his upcoming album is testament to that.

In his past he beefed with Jay-Z, but even before that, Tupac was calling him out, along with several other New York MCs.

Today, with Pac years gone, Nas recently addressed the beef with the slain rapper, via a recent interview with King, admitting he loved the late rapper throughout the entire situation.

"Pac now is Black Jesus in a sense; Pac is Lennon; Pac is Marvin. So, hell yeah, I love the fact that he starts Makaveli off and says that about me," Nas told the mag, when asked how he felt about calling Nas the ringleader on the Makaveli album. "Hell yeah. I loved him before he died. I loved him before he said anything."

According to Nas, he spat a few bars on the track "The Message" that Tupac felt was aimed towards him, resulting in Nas becoming an enemy. But he claims the lines weren't met for Pac at all, and instead for Notorious B.I.G. who Nas says knew that.

Nas says that he targeted Biggie after the line "Your reign on the top was short like leprechauns," which he said was meant for him.

"Tupac thought it was about him, but it was really toward Biggie," he explained.

The Queensbridge rapper also revealed that at one point the late Notorious B.I.G. had reached out to him to collaborate for a Tupac diss track, but they never had the chance to make it happen.

"[Biggie] called me. He said, 'Let's get together.' He said that everyone was a little nervous about it, but he was calling me about getting busy," Nas explained. "Getting me and Big in the same room wasn't easy. I had just dropped my record, and my schedule was crazy. Biggie was in Miami recording Life After Death. It was just timing. We were supposed to get together and talk more, so who knows what would have happened."

Also in the interview Nas talks about why he doesn't perform "Ether" any longer, specific lines many believe to be aimed at Jay-Z on his last album and who he thinks the best rapper right now is.
