The Aphilliates Clean Up At 11th Annual Mixtape Awards

The 11th Annual Mixtape Awards went down on Tuesday (April 29) in New York City, apparrently without incident, but received very little press.
The night's big winners were DJ Drama's Aphilliates crew, who cleaned up, taking up honors in five categories including the Kay Slay Award for Best Mixtape DJ.
DJ Drama won Best Mixtape DJ, Best Dirty South Mixtape DJ, while his crew won Best Mixtape Team, his Gangsta Grillz series won Mixtape of the Year, and his partner Don Cannon took home the gold for Best Mixtape producer.
Los Angeles' DJ Skee also won multiple awards -- both in the Best Blends and Best West Coast DJ categories.
As far as artists, they are broken into regions. Styles P took home Best East Coast Mixtape Artist, Lil Wayne won Best Dirty South Artist, and Crooked I took home the Best West Coast Artist, beating out The Game, Bishop Lamont, Juice and 40 Glocc.
The Mixtape Awards also honored past contributors to the mixtape game. DJ Barry Bee won the Mixtape Legends Award, Tony Touch took home Mixtape Pioneers Award honors, and the DJ Red Alert Award went to DJ Jazzy Joyce.
The event was started in 1995 by the late Justo Faison.
