After more than a month, the cause of Kanye West's mother, Donda West, has been revealed -- and according to TMZ.com, she died of a heart attack.
The gossip site reported Thursday (January 10) that the Los Angeles County Coroner has concluded that "coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as a consequence of liposuction and mammoplasty" led to her sudden death on November 10 (see "Kanye West's Mother Dies Suddenly In Los Angeles").
The heart attack followed a cosmetic-surgery procedure that had been performed on her -- specifically a breast reduction, abdominoplasty (commonly referred to as a "tummy tuck") and liposuction (see "Kanye West's Mom Dies Following 'Cosmetic Procedure?'").
In its preliminary autopsy report, the coroner's office suggested West may have died "as a result of surgery or anesthesia," according to TMZ.
The surgeon who operated on her, Dr. Jan Adams, said in November that after the operation, there were no problems. Although, at the time, he did not speak about the possible belief that she died from a heart attack, but said he considered the possibility of an overdose because he prescribed Vicodin for West.
Despite his drug OD theory, the coroner's initial findings did not mention drugs as a possible link to her death.
Donda was mourned at a memorial service held at Chicago State University on November 16.
