Mobb Deep's Prodigy was given another month of freedom before he will have to serve a 3 1/2 year sentence for gun charge stemming from October 2006.
The rapper's 30 day grace period was given after being admitting to the emergency room Monday night (January 7), due to complications related to his sickle cell anemia disease.
He was released the same night however.
Prodigy (real name: Albert Johnson) was expected to report to New York State authorities on Tuesday (January 8) to begin serving his sentence, but due to the hospitalization, he was granted a one month adjournment.
Since it was his third gun conviction, he took a plea bargain which reduced his sentence to 3 1/2 years instead of the usual 15 -- the sentence normally given to felons who are facing their third weapons charge.
As originally reported, he will begin serving his sentence on February 13.
