Rappers Jim Jones and Styles P both announced on Sunday (December 16) that they will be working on a collaborative album together, which they plan to release through Koch Records.
Via an interview with top British hip-hop radio host Tim Westwood, the two rappers spoke about the plans and exclaimed that there was unity in New York, despite what many think.
"Me and Styles got an album coming out," Jones revealed. "The Ghost and The Capo, NYC to the fullest. It's a good thing, shout out to Koch, they giving up that paper, so why not?"
"They say there is not a lot of unity where we come from. [Jim] represents a strong army and I represent a strong army, so there is money to be made," added Styles P. "He's been on the grind a long time, I've been on the grind a long time and besides music there isn't too many artists I bump with in the industry. Me and Jim we've had a relationship over the years, we see each other in the hood and we've kicked it. Somebody gotta put the city on their back, so we gonna put it on our backs."
So far, there is no album title or timeframe for the project's release, but a rep from Koch confirmed the news with us, but did not reveal any further details other than "it is in the works."
Also later in the interview, Jones spoke on his Diplomats camp. Although he didn't get into detail about any inner turmoil, he said that there have been conversations and that the third installment of the camp's Diplomatic Immunity series is in the works as well.
Jay-Z was also brought up. With the speculation running rampant about whether or not he will be president at Def Jam next year. Rumors have Jay possibly moving over to Columbia/Sony if Def Jam doesn't pan out, so it was asked if that happened, what would Jones do, due to his long-running beef with the veteran rapper.
"If you remember the movie 'Backstage' [where] Dame Dash was barking on Kevin Liles, if Jay take that position, he will be Kevin Liles and I’ll be barking on him."
