The manager of Atlantic Records recording artist, Plies, was arrested on Tuesday (December 11) in Tampa, Florida after police seized a reported 80 pounds of cocaine.
According to the Tampa Bay Tribune, Plies' manager, David Lee Gay Jr., was arrested alongside several other of his associates after he was set up by his supplier.
Eleazar Gutierrez-Castillo, Gay's alleged supplier was arrested hours before the arrest of Gay, when he was caught in the act while attempting to sell five ounces of cocaine to an undercover Tampa officer, and then agreed to cooperate with authorities.
Authorities say that Gay and Gutierrez-Castillo were in business together. They allege that Gay received and distributed up to six kilos of cocaine from September through November, paying $6,000 for each, and owing $8,000 to Gutierrez-Castillo after they were sold.
After being arrested Tuesday night, a search of Gay's home turned up 10 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a 9mm Taurus handgun and almost $8,000 in cash in the master bedroom of his residence.
Authorities plan to use Gutierrez-Castillo's testimony, as well as several intercepted phone calls to link Gay to drug trafficking.
35-year-old Gay has been charged with several federal and state charges, including possession of cocaine, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, armed trafficking, racketeering and several conspiracy charges.
Both men are being held at the Orient Road Jail without bail.
