Singer Akon arrived in Fishkill Town Court on Monday (December 3) in to be arraigned on charges stemming from his controversial fan-tossing incident this summer.
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the 34-year-old singer pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and harassment.
Following his not guilty plea, Akon's attorneys released a statement regarding the incident.
"It was never Akon's intent to violate the law," the statement read. "This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets. We are confident that this matter will ultimately be resolved in a manner that does not in any way interfere with Akon's successful career."
In June, Akon was caught on video tossing a young fan off the stage during his performance Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York for the Annual KFEST concert.
