Music mogul Diddy is being sued by a former Miami associate, who claims he owes him in upwards of $19 million.
According to CBS4 in Miami, James Sabatino alleges that Diddy (real name: Sean Combs) owes him money for music created by late rapper, Notorious B.I.G., claiming he flew Diddy to Miami in 1994 to perform a live show and record some music.
He said during that time, B.I.G. recorded about 17 minutes of freestyle vocals, and the music session was also captured on roughly 90 minutes of video footage.
Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down in Los Angeles in 1997 in a still unsolved homicide. The channel reports that later that same year, Diddy agreed to buy the music and video footage from Sabatino for $200,000. Sabatino claims that the music mogul gave him a check for $25,000 and promised the rest of the money in 60 days. The reason why? Because Diddy allegedly told him that the L.A. police had named Sabatino a person of interest in the rapper's death.
He was scheduled to meet with Notorious B.I.G the night of the murder, but never showed up. So, Diddy worried that giving him the full amount would be misconstrued if the public found out his company had paid a large sum of money to a person of interest in the murder, the lawsuit said.
The reason why Sabatino has waited so long to file the suit is because, he felt that Diddy was change his story to police if he were to go after the money. The mogul originally told people that he didn't think Sabatino was involved in the murder.
