Master P continues to make more strides in his Take A Stand movement, which began with the rapper cleaning up his lyrics. He's taken it a step further by investing money and time into three youth centers for underprivileged kids.
The rapper (real name: Percy Miller) said he hopes to fulfill the dreams of underprivileged kids by establishing the first gymnasium with a library.
"Our goal is take kids off the streets, provide education, financial literacy, and hope for a real future," said Master P.
The first three P. Miller youth centers will be developed in New Orleans, Chicago and Los Angeles with more to follow, according to a spokesperson for P.
According to a press release, there are approximately 800,000 gang members in the U.S. today and are responsible for 25% of all murders and crimes. Other numbers related to our youth include: 22% of all teen deaths are alcohol and drug abuse related; and teen pregnancy is up by 15%. The number of single parent families is increasing every year as well as the number of high school dropouts. Due to lack of education, knowledge and vision, many minorities will be dead or incarcerated by the age of 21.
"Our mission is to encourage the kids in our communities by giving them the opportunity to be exposed to knowledge and guiding them to utilize it towards their individual and unique purpose in life," a rep said. "We want our kids to pick up a book or a ball and put down the guns. It is time to save our kids... let's give them a better vision."
