Looks like Remy Ma caught a break in the case she caught when she allegedly shot her friend over a matter for $2,000 back in mid-July.
According to the New York Daily News, the 26-year-old rapper (real name: Remy Smith) had the original charge of attempted murder dropped to assault, because it is now believed that the gun used may have gone off accidentally.
She was accused Wednesday (September 12) of trying to intimidate a witness, and prosecutors asked for Remy's bail to be increased following new charges of witness tampering and gang assault charges.
The new charges stem from an August 19th assault of the witness's boyfriend, who was allegedly beaten in a New York nightclub, leaving the victim and a friend severely injured.
Although the prosecution argued that Remy was a flight risk, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Rena Uviller kept the rapper's bail at $250,000, pending a court date next Thursday (September 20).
She remains free on bail and had to forfeit her passport.
Remy Ma was arrested in July and charged with attempted murder (see "Remy Ma Arrested, Charged With Attempted Murder"), after she was involved in a verbal altercation with 23-year-old Makeda Barnes-Joseph over a $2,000 debt, which later led to the rapper pulling a gun and shooting Barnes-Joseph twice in the torso.
She has pled not guilty to attempted murder, but as mentioned, it has now been lowered to first-degree assault.
