It's been nearly five years since he was first accused of child pornography and it looked like his trial would finally commence this September, but now it seems as though R. Kelly will have to wait a little longer now.
R. Kelly's trial was delay yet again Monday (September 4), and there is no word as to when it will be rescheduled.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Judge Vincent Michael Gaughan has postponed the trial, which was set to begin on September 17 (see "R. Kelly Finally Gets Trial Date For Child Porn Case"), because the lead prosecutor recently had a baby and isn't able to proceed.
The 40-year-old singer (real name: Robert Kelly) was arrested in 2002 and faces 14 counts of child pornography, which includes a video tape of what prosecutors believe in Kelly engaging in sexual acts with a teenage girl.
Despite the child porn case looming over his head, he has not slowed down musically. He has released five albums and a greatest hits collection in the past five years, as well as enjoyed success on features guest spots on singles for the likes of T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy and various others. With the court's permission, he also has completed three concert tours, including a controversial one with rapper Jay-Z.
