Five years after being accused of child porn, R&B singer R. Kelly is finally set to go to trial on multiple counts of child pornography.
Reuters reports that the 40-year-old singer's (real name: Robert Kelly) will go to trial on September 17, where he will faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl.
Prosecutors say that the girl was as young as 13 when the tape was recorded, but Kelly's defense team argue the age of the girl and whether Kelly is actually on the tape, despite the tape being circulated widely.
When the charges were first brought to light, Kelly pleaded not guilty, and has since been awaiting trial. In that time, he's recently several albums, toured extensively and released a DVD set of skits called "Trapped In The Closet."
The trial was delayed, in part, by arguments over when the video was made. It was also pushed back because the judge had fell, suffered broken bones and needed to recuperate.
According to Reuters, jury selection would begin September 17.
