G-Unit's Tony Yayo rejected a plea deal in court on Tuesday (July 24) that would have landed him in jail for nine months on charges of harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
The charges stem from an incident in March where the rapper (real name: Marvin Bernard) allegedly slapped the 14-year-old son of The Game's manager Jimmy "Henchmen" Rosemond. Yayo was later arrested for the alleged assault (see "G-Unit's Tony Yayo Arrested For Allegedly Slapping Teen").
According to the Associated Press, Yayo's attorney Scott Leemon said that the judge in the case asked for more time to make a decision on whether he will enforce subpoenas issued by Leemon to the public-relations firm for Rosemond's Czar Entertainment record label.
The case was adjourned until September 6, when Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Neil Ross is expected to rule on Leemon's motion to subpoena e-mails between 5W Public Relations and its client Czar Entertainment.
Leemon did not reveal what information he was seeking from the PR firm though.
Yayo has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently free on $5,000 bail.
