Lil Wayne was arrested in New York on Sunday night (July 22) for allegedly being caught with a pistol.

The rapper was reportedly arrested just hours after his first major New York performance at the Beacon Theatre. Police say Wayne's tour bus was pulled over at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night. After a search of the vehicle, a .40 caliber handgun turned up, this resulted in the arrest of the rapper.

Lil Wayne was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, while another individual on the bus was charged with criminal possession of marijuana.

In a separate incident, rapper Ja Rule was arrested an hour earlier, when police pulled over his luxury vehicle for speeding.

The 31-year-old rapper (real name: Jeffrey Atkins) was arrested, along with his driver, when officers found a .40-caliber handgun.

It's sad the Entertainers have to ride around with guns and protection. You never really hear of R&B, or Soul Singers being pulled over w/hand guns, not that they aren't packing.
