Hip-hop mogul Master P and son rapper Romeo announced recently that they have launched a new label called Take A Stand Records, which comes with a mission -- of cleaning up both the image and lyrics of hip-hop music.

The new label will represent artists that have pledged to be role models to both the music industry and music lovers of all walks of life through 100% clean lyrics and positive moral values.

Master P made the announcement public and gave further justification for the label via an open letter where he admits that he has benefited from explicit lyrics, but hopes to change his tune, after the genre came under fire in light of the Don Imus controversy.

"I have profited millions of dollars through explicit rap lyrics," admits Master P. "I can honestly say that I was once part of the problem and now it's time to be part of the solution. I am ready to take a stand by cleaning up my music and follow my son's footsteps and make a clean rap album."

Although P doesn't expect the entire industry to follow his path, he hopes by leading the way, he can take the industry one step towards growth.

The first release under the new label will be a father and son album from Master P and Romeo titled Hip Hop History, which is slated to debut this fall.

Rather than perpetuate the conventional hip-hop stereotypes of violence, sex and wealth, music from Take A Stand Records artists will address social issues and positivity.

"There's too much negativity out there -- enough with the stereotypes," P said. "Hip-hop is a movement, and it is time for it to move forward."

Hoping to be a label with a conscience, proceeds from record sales released through Take A Stand will be made available to underprivileged youth in the form of scholarships. Additionally, they plan will seek partnerships with organizations such as the NAACP and retailers such as Target and Wal-Mart that are in direct contact with communities to make more of a difference.

Currently, P has launched a nationwide talent search for artists that share in the values of the new label. Interested hip-hop artists are encouraged to become contestants on the new unscripted television show "America's Next Hip-Hop Stars" at AmericasNextHipHopStars.com.

In related news, Master P and the rest of his artist roster at Gutta Music -- which included Romeo, his brother Silkk The Shocker, Playa and LOS -- have released a new album called Gutta Music All-Stars.

The album is comprised of singles from the aforementioned artists as well as new artists that have collectively been referred to by Master P as "the future of hip-hop."

The album is available at all digital retailers now.
