Weed connoisseurs, Potluck, are currently on tour in support of their latest release, Straight Outta Humboldt, and they are loving every minute of it, despite having to hold off on touring for nearly three months after group member Underrated fractured his ankle during a show late last year.
During the December show in Palm Springs, California, Underated fell off the stage, dislocated and fractured his ankle, which landed him in rehab to learn how to walk again. So, in the off-time, the group says they stayed hard at work, creating new music, while itching to get back on the road.
"I was laid up on the couch for weeks and I couldn't do anything except wait to heal," recalls Underrated. "I was so frustrated because we had to miss the Tech N9ne tour, but the fans' Myspace/email letters and support helped motivate me to get back in the studio and make some new music. Since we couldn't go out on the road, we made some hot new beats and songs. The four-five months off weren't wasted. We got a lot of new material for the people."
Once Underrated was healed, they didn't waste any time. Now, they are currently on tour with the Kottonmouth Kings' own, Kingspade, and Potluck says the fans are showing how much they've been missed. "It has been really good to get back on the road. It's been a long time and the fans are showing more love than ever," said Underrated, who also reveals that once the tour is wrapped up, more new music is to soon follow. "Three more weeks on the road and then it's back to the studio to work on some new material. We have eight new songs completed and tons of beats... 2007 is gonna be a good year for us."
The group's latest release, Straight Outta Humboldt, features guest appearances from Twiztid, Tech N9ne, Chali 2NA of Jurassic 5, E-40, The Luniz, E-40 and the Kottonmouth Kings.
It is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed independent release, Harvest Time. Their "do-it-yourself" attitude has allowed them to release three successful independent albums and tour the US countless times over.
