Rapper Foxy Brown has been officially charged with battery and resisting arrest, stemming from a recent arrest at a beauty supply store in Miami.
According to the Florida arrest report, Brown had purchased beauty products at Miami's Queen Beauty Supply in February (see "Foxy Brown Arrested In Miami On Battery Charge"), which she was applying in the store's bathroom near closing time, when an employee told her it was time to leave. She then refused, threw hair glue at the man, and then spat on him while he was calling 911.
When a police officer arrived, he found the rapper (real name: Inga Marchand) still in the shopping plaza. He approached Brown and asked her to return to the store with him. When the officer placed his hand on her arm to escort her to the store, Brown swatted it away, then started swinging her arms and struggling with the officer.
According to the report, the officer had to "use a takedown maneuver to gain control" of Brown, but no one was injured.
She was arrested and held overnight, before being released on a $1,500 bond.
After returning to New York, Brown made a public statement, claiming racism and police brutality in the arrest (see "Foxy Brown Claims Police Brutality In Florida Arrest"). Brown says she was dragged out of the store half-naked then arrested by police because she was black.
"I was exposed from the waist down on the toilet," Brown said. "The only crime I'm guilty of is being a young black woman."
