Singer Akon and mobile provider Verizon Wireless will be partnering for a new marketing campaign to promote Verizon's V CAST services and mobile music capabilities on their mobile phones.
The singer is slated to be the first artist to "act" in a Verizon Wireless TV ad, and will also feature an exclusive new track called "Easy Road," which will be available only to V Cast customers.
"Akon has emerged as one of the world's most compelling and exciting stars," said Vice President of Marketing and New Media for Verizon, John Harrobin. "His commitment to his artistry and the community enables us to take our partnership with music industry innovators in yet another direction by collaborating on this unique TV advertising campaign."
Music and artwork from Akon's latest album, Konvicted, will also be featured in Verizon Wireless stores, as well as becoming a component featured on Verizon Wireless phones. Adding his own unique flair to Verizon Wireless' trendsetting blend of music and technology, the partnership is expected to heighten the already formidable profile of V CAST with music fans.
In addition to being able to purchase the "Easy Road" track, subscribers can also purchase the ringback tone and mastertone version of the song.
