A man was gunned down Tuesday (November 1) during a memorial celebration for the late Mac Dre (real name: Andre Hicks), who was killed just a year ago in Kansas City, Missouri (see "Bay Area Rapper Mac Dre Gunned Down In Kansas City").
The victim, 21-year-old Vallejo native Michael Clint Banks, was among more than 150 people gathered in North Vallejo, California to remember the slain rapper.
But according to eye witnesses, the celebration was cut short when a fight broke out between three females, during which a man raised a gun to the sky and fired off several shots in an attempt to stop the fight. When that didn't work, the man lowered his weapon and fired into the crowd, according to a woman at the scene.
Upon receiving a report around 8:35 p.m. of multiple gunshots in the area, police arrived to a sea of people scattering in several directions, with Banks lying on the ground.
Banks was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is underway, but there are no suspects thus far.
