Hip-hop and NBA players go hand-and-hand. So, for Electronic Arts' forthcoming 2006 installment of the "NBA Live" videogame series, the company enlisted many of hip-hop's upcoming stars to grace the in-game soundtrack.

The gaming developer announced on Monday (August 12) that "NBA Live 06" will feature 16 tracks from hip-hop artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, Stat Quo, Afu-Ra, Chali 2na, Chamillionaire and N.O.R.E. to name a few. Some of which being licensed music, and others being exclusive music for the game itself.

"With its rock, indie and Latin influences, the music in 'NBA LIVE 06' is an unparalleled collection of songs that demonstrate the new sound of hip-hop," said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Music Marketing at EA.

The music from the soundtrack features music created by production duo, Da Riffs and Just Blaze, who produced beats on the game 2004 version.

EA's rival, Take-Two Interactive, is releasing their own "NBA 2K6" along with their own soundtrack of 14 exclusive tracks, all originally recorded for the game. Artists such as Common, the Roots and Little Brother will appear on "NBA 2K6's" soundtrack. (The two games have more in common then hip-hop soundtracks; they also have big name athletes for the covers, but both are from the same team; "NBA Live" has the Miami Heat's Dwayne Wade; "NBA 2K6" has Shaq, according to MTV News.)

Below is "NBA Live 06" track list, according to EA:
