2K Sports, the company responsible for sports video game series, announced that they plan to heavily incorporate hip-hop music into their next installment of "NBA 2K" series by featuring many acts on their all original soundtrack for the game.

Many of the artists, who will contribute to the game's soundtrack, will tour to promote the game and also appear in The Entertainer's Basketball Classic (EBC) at Rucker Park mode of the game, which allows gamers to play as their favorite rappers in this seminal street-ball tournament.

2K Sports feels that this approach (integrating video games with hip-hop music) is something that will change what is possible in the video game industry today.

"Basketball and hip-hop culture have always been connected at the street level, so we wanted to ensure that NBA 2K6's vibe is as authentic as the game play," said Tim Rosa, director of marketing and promotions for 2K Sports. "By featuring exclusive original tracks, accompanied by both a tour and the ability to play as select musicians in the game, our pioneering approach to music integration marks a turning point in what is possible in the video game industry."

Although including a hip-hop track on a video game is nothing new, "NBA 2K6" boasts 14 original tracks created exclusively for the game by such artists as The Roots, Common, RJD2, Jean Grae, Aceyalone, Aesop Rock, Lyrics Born, Zion I, and the Hieroglyphics to name a few.

In addition to appearing in the game, these songs will be released by Decon Records on a compilation CD entitled The Tracks.

Of the artists, whose music you will hear on the video game, Method Man, Redman, Flava Flav, ?uestlove from The Roots, Common, and Aesop Rock, are among them, who will be playable characters in "NBA 2K6's" game play.

The tour being called 2K Sports Bounce Tour will be headlined by The Roots and underground icons such as RJD2 and Aceyalone, who will tour throughout more than 30 major cities this fall.

"NBA 2k6" will launch this fall for the PlayStation 2, the Xbox and the Xbox 360.
