To commemorate what would have been Eazy-E's 41st birthday on September 7 and the tenth anniversary of his death, Capitol/Priority Records will be releasing a CD/DVD set entitled Eternal E: Gangsta Memorial Edition.
With the rapper's pioneering moves in hip-hop and gangsta rap, Eazy has gone down in history as one of the forefathers of that West Coast gangsta rap style heard in so much of today's hip-hop music. His son, Lil Eazy, is now carrying the torch, and is proud of what his father accomplished.
"He started the whole gangster rap era," said Lil Eazy. "There wouldn't be nothing -- not 2Pac, not Biggie, not 50 Cent, not Dr. Dre, not Eminem -- if it wasn't for my father. He started it. He's the Godfather of gangster rap."
Lil Eazy will be featured on the new release on a previously unreleased song "A Lil' Eazier Said," which is an update of Eazy-E's classic "Eazy-er Said Than Dunn." Also, it will feature 16 Eazy-E songs, seven music videos, as well as three Rap-It-Up Public Service Announcements, designed to raise HIV/AIDS awareness.
"This album keeps his legacy pushing and keeps his name out there," Lil Eazy said.
Eternal E: Gangsta Memorial Edition is slated for release on September 6.
