The long-standing R&B group 112 has accomplished many feats throughout their career. From platinum-plus success to Grammy Awards, the Def Jam recording group has only the acting field to conquer, and with their new video, it looks like that is next.
Mike, Q, Daron and Slim reveal themselves in ways that you've never seen before in the musical mini-drama, "What If," their newest single. Prepped by casting-director-turned-acting-coach, Tracey Moore-Marable (Eve, Busta, Nelly, etc), 112 are interwoven into various scenes that make up the twisted and emotional storyline directed by Fat Cats (Randy Marshall and Eric Williams) for F.M. Rocks.
"I didn't really know what to expect or how I would take to acting, but I really enjoyed it," Daron said of his first acting experience. "When I was on the set, I almost forgot that it was the video to our new song. The way Fat Cats connected the storyline to the lyrics made it look more like a short movie than a video."
"It was almost like an out of body experience. Turning emotions on and off and playing for the camera is an art," Q adds.
Slim, who has the lead in the new single, talked about "What If" and what it meant to him. He revealed that he wanted the song to remind people that there are actions for everything you do.
"The song is a strong reminder that everyone has choices and there are actions that happens for each decision made," said Slim. "Never take anything for granted because by the time you start asking yourself 'what if,' it may be too late....trust me I know!!"
Produced by Darrrell "Ghettopop" Allamby, "What If" will serve as their second single, from their latest album, Pleasure & Pain. The first single "U Already Know," peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard's R&B Charts.
