Dame Dash Music Group held a listening party for Ol Dirty Bastard's (a.k.a. Dirt McGirt) new album, A Son Unique, Tuesday night (April 12) at the Universal Records offices in midtown Manhattan.

The conference room full of media was treated to Armadale vodka, drinks and food while they watched a documentary on ODB during his final recording sessions.

Remembering the late ODB, Pharell of the Neptunes said he was disappointed that he didn't sign the rapper first because he was very fond of his originality on the documentary, which will air around the time of it's release date on MTV or BET. Also, the documentary showed the late rapper in the film "State Property 2," in which he made a humorous cameo as a diner chef who served rapper Sparks, of Oschino and Sparks.

Dame Dash and Kareem "Biggs" Burke showed up a few minutes late and the listening session began. Dash said that A Son Unique is "probably the best album [ODB] ever made." Serving as the A&R and executive producer for the project Dash stated, "I'm happy I was able to be part of history," and referred to ODB as "a legend who made his mark on hip-hop."

Dash started to speak about the legal ramifications of releasing the album, but did not get into too much detail because of lawyers being present.

"People try to take advantage of a bad situation," Dash explained. "We will make sure all his kids get paid, and that's my word."

The album did not disappoint, as singles "Pop Shots" produced by DJ Premier with a guest spot by Lil Fame and "Operator" produced by the Neptunes featuring the Clipse and Pharell, featured pulsating and head nodding production and even catchier hooks: "Dirt Dawg, Dirt Dawg, he's our man if he can't do it, no one can... that 's my daaawg,"

With help from Joe Budden, N.O.R.E., Macy Gray and his Wu brethren, Dirt Dog's legacy will end with another classic LP.

Both his Wu-Tang fans and more mainstream audience will be surprised at the production throughout the album, especially on the track "Skrilla," produced by RZA.

A Son Unique is slated to drop June 21 on Damon Dash Music Group.
