Although rumors have spread accross the net about Scarface signing with Suge Knight's Death Row Records for weeks now, the official word has not come. And now, Face's longtime label Rap-A-Lot has stepped up to clear the air.
The label has just announced that they've re-signed the Houston legend and plan to drop a slew of new releases in 2005. And in addition, the label has inked a new distribution deal with Warner Music Group/Asylum.
"We just renewed and confirmed the strong bond and dedication that Scarface has with Rap-A-Lot Records," said J. Prince, CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records. "As an individual, Scarface has always been genuine and willing to support home. When all the top labels were trying to sign him, he didn't sell out. This will be another giant step that will enhance his overall entrepreneurship as a business man."
"I signed back to Rap-A-Lot because they have always kept it real with me," added Scarface. "There is a bond here. Rap-A-Lot has always been loyal to me, so I'm going to be loyal to Rap-A-Lot for life."
After releasing The Fix in 2002 to stellar reviews (The Source gave the album a classic 5-mic rating), now, the rap legend is back in the studio working on his next solo. But first, he will return with his group, the Geto Boys, and are prepping a new album.
"As for the music, I want this next album to be an innovative recording of great music," explained Scarface.
There is no official title for Face's next solo album, but it is slated to drop sometime next year. The Geto Boy's reunion album, War & Peace, is due in stores January 25.
