Joe Budden returned to his hometown of New Jersey on Tuesday (November 23) to help out the less fortunate in his community.
At the Montgomery Gardens housing complex in New Jersey's West Side, the rapper came out to help out for a turkey giveaway, sponsored by Bank of America.
"There are people, who on many days, don't know what they're going to eat or where their next meal is going to come from," Budden told The Jersey Journal. "It's important for me to give back."
Born in Spanish Harlem, Budden moved to Jersey City with his family at the age of 11. This is where he grew up and where he became the man he is today.
Residents were very thankful of Budden's efforts. Complex manager, Lillie Howard, said it was the first time in her 27 years as manager that any celebrity showed up at the housing complex to do anything.
"I'm sure the residents appreciated it," Howard said. "Hopefully, other celebrities will start giving back, too. You know, people don't have to give you anything."
