Rapper J-Live has just inked a deal with Penalty Recordings, where he will release his next album.
"I'm extremely excited about being the latest addition to the Penalty/Rykodisc family," said J-Live. "This is a huge step forward in my career. I'm working on my 3rd full length album. I'm confident that with Penalty Recordings, my music will be able to reach more ears than ever. I feel like I'm in the right place at the right time."
Just as Live believes in Penalty, the label believes in him. "J-Live is a great addition to a growing list of credible artists. He's making classic records that should stand the test of time," says Neil Levine, President of Penalty Recordings.
After debuting in 1996 with his first single "Longevity" b/w "Braggin' Rights," J-Live has continued to develop his craft and has gotten stronger every year, resulting in his recent deal.
"Back in the days, it used to be all about Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One," explained J-Live. "When you listened to Hip-Hop music, the best emcees just seemed to get hotter every year. Rakim's flow just got tighter from Paid In Full to Follow The Leader. Basically, that's what I'm trying to do with my music."
J-Live is currently in the studio, hard at work on his new album. The album, which is yet to be titled, is due out in the Spring of 2005.
