Although we may not see him again, Ol Dirty Bastard's memory lives on through his music and the fellow MCs around him.
Certainly fans will remember him for his wild and crazy antics, but those that had an opportunity to spend time with him have a whole different perception of the one and only ODB.
"I only know him from his music, but I can tell you from working with him that he is a genuine, caring person," Mr. Gee "Da Rearanja," a Brooklyn, New York MC, told BallerStatus.com.
The rapper was one of the last artists to work with ODB, just before his passing last week (see "Ol' Dirty Bastard Dies At 35").
"I met him through an acquaintance and we listened to a beat and he asked me, 'Would you like to do a song together?' So my man B-Blaze, myself and ODB recorded a track called, 'Take Them To Church,'" the rapper explained.
While working together, ODB also shared a couple of tracks from his new album with Roc-A-Fella. "ODB was really excited about a couple of tracks he had made for his new album with the ROC," said Gee. "He has a song with Ludacris, another one with Macy Gray and one with the Wu. He took me aside and told me, 'In hip-hop, be yourself, be real and if you have a mic, speak loud and stand for something,' and I'll never forget him for that."
Technicalities are currently being worked out, so the world can eventually hear "Take Them To Church," one of ODB's final tracks. According to Mr. Gee, the song completes an evolution of ODB.
"If you understand ODB, you know he used to be O'Sirus and then Big Baby Jesus, so by making a song called 'Take Them To Church,' it was only right for him to complete that change," Gee shared. "I think if people hear the lyrics in this song they will be definitely taken back. It's real. He will be missed."
