Miami-bred Cuban rapper, Pitbull, is gearing up for the release of his debut album, M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue). The album is a culturally diverse effort coming from one of the meanest dogs in the South, and co-signed by Lil' Jon.
Pitbull's Lil' Jon-produced lead single "Culo," inspired by the ladies' backsides, has taken off and become an instant hit in many radio markets across the nation and has gained heavy rotation on MTV.
According to the rapper, his album will live up to his rap moniker. "Pitbulls are outlawed in Dade County, so I'm the only Pitbull allowed there," said Pitbull. "I want my album to reflect my passion and drive to reach the top."
With Lil' Jon beats becoming some of the most sought after hip-hop, you can only expect greatness from M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue), as Jon serves as executive producer for the project. The album will also include guest appearances from the King Of Crunk himself along with Crunk N'B singer Oobie.
Even though most artists in Miami are overlooked by the rest of the industry, Pitbull plans to change the trend.
"Crunk really got started in Miami, with bass music," said the rapper. "Crunk ain't nothin' but bass music slowed down and bass music got started here in Miami. Even after all that success, we still get slept on, but that's about to change."
Pitbull's debut is slated for release August 24 on TVT Records.
But TVT has a slew of releases on deck, including Jacki-O's Poe Little Rich Girl on October 26, Teedra Moses' Complex Simplicity in stores now and a new album from Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz in November.
