Cormega Readies New Projects; Speaks On His Female Protege Dona

Just like an indie should, Cormega is on his grind. The Queensbridge native has recently returned from tour with Ghostface and is continuing work on his Legal Hustle imprint, which is gearing up for a slew of new releases.
After recently releasing the Legal Hustle compilation album, Cormega is now preparing the release of a new DVD, his shelved Def Jam album The Testament and his third solo album, Urban Legends.
The release of the highly anticipated Testament will come out in two different versions, according to the rapper. One will be the original version, released as it was when Def Jam shelved it in the mid-90's and the other being a special edition double album with remixes and updated material.
The album is expected to drop early next year.
Cormega described the album as a "pair of vintage Jordans." "You gonna expect what you expected when it first came out," Cormega told BallerStatus.com. "I asked people's opinions on what they wanted me to do or how I should do it and people said you should put it out how was originally recorded. So, that's what I'm gonna do."
Other than Cormega solo projects, he gave a little insight on what people can expect from the first lady from Legal Hustle, Dona, which Cormega says is "the truth."
"Dona's just raw, she writes her own rhymes [and] her story is the truth," explained the rapper of his female protégé. "Some people listen to her rhymes and try to push her to the side because she's a girl. They don't understand, Dona is going through it!"
According to Mega, Dona is a living and walking story of pain and struggle. She currently lives in a home with 13 people and does what she has to do to help her family. Her most recent heartache came when her close brother's daughter passed, which Dona took very hard. She took a big step to help out in this tragic event, which Cormega says he's proud of.
"Dona had a Legal Hustle piece that was diamonded out, a chain and a piece," recalled Cormega. "She pawned her jewelry to pay for the funeral. I didn't even find out about that until after the fact, but I was proud of her."
Even with all the hardships Dona's dealt with, she is still focusing on her rap career. Currently, her solo debut My Brother's Keeper is in the process of being recorded. But in the meantime, her first mixtape -- which will drop in the next few months -- should keep fans satisfied.
