AZ has been quiet for a bit, well, since his 2002 release, Aziatic. The former member of Dre's supergroup, The Firm, is returning with a new album with Koch Records, titled Final Call.
The 15-track offering is already starting to generate a buzz with the first single "Talking Gangsta" featuring Tony Sunshine of the Terror Squad, and is beginning to make its way onto mixtapes and DJ's mix shows.
AZ was first introduced to the hip-hop world when his lyrics graced Nas' "Life's a Bitch" off his now classic Illmatic album. Shortly after, his career took off when he linked up with Nas once again, in addition to Foxy Brown and Nature to create The Firm. They recorded a fairly successful album with production from Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters in 1997.
Since '97, the rapper has released three solo albums, which sold 200,000 units each.
His new album, Final Call, is slated for release, September 21.
The final tracklist is as follows:
"Intro" Freedom f/Lemon - (Produced by Tone Mason) "Omega" (Produced by Tone Mason) "The Truth" (Produced by Young Calvin & DJ Absolut)04. "Seems That Way" (Produced by Frado) "Talkin' Gangsta" f/Tony Sunshine (Produced by Metaphysic) "Side 2 Side" f/Ron G (Produced by AZ & Deo) "You Know" F/Rell (Produced by Baby Paul) "No Strings" (Produced by Baby Paul) "Gangsta MC's Interlude" f/Lemon "Live Wire" (Produced by Buckwild) "Magic Hr" f/CL Smooth (Produced by Tone Mason) "I Am AZ" (produced by AZ) "Girls R Free" (Produced by Baby Paul) "Poor Poor People Interlude" f/Lemon "Let Me Know" f/Aaliyah (produced by GV & AZ) "Quiet $$ Anthem" f/Nu & Young (Produced by Tone Mason)
