The main question surrounding the Wu-Tang Clan for the past few years is: Are they ever returning with a group album? Well, that has yet to be answered, but we have the next best thing. The group has just announced that all nine members will perform together in July.
Yes, the entire crew -- RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, Ghostface, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, U-God and Cappadona -- are confirmed to perform together for the first time in ten years at the upcoming Rock The Bells festival in Cali.
The event, which will be held at San Bernardino’s NOS Events Center, is slated to be one of the most anticipated shows of the year.
Other artists set to perform are Redman, Dilated Peoples, Sage Francis, Eyedea Abilities and Supernatural with special guests Chali 2na and DJ Nu-Mark of Jurassic 5.
Rock The Bells founder, Chang Weisberg, started the event because of the lack of quality hip-hop events and tours available today. Getting all the Wu members together wasn't the original plan, but says the members are excited about the show.
"At first, we thought we could get some of the members of Wu-Tang together and that would be enough, but it became a mission to bring them all out for one special day," said Weisberg. "All the members have expressed their excitement to let their alter egos mash the stage and represent the clan."
Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, June 18 through Ticketmaster for $27 pre-sale (June 18 - 20), $32 on-sale (June 21- July 16), $37 day of show (July 17), and $75 VIP.
In addition, Rock The Bells plans to expand. In 2005, they plan to trek out on a North American tour. For more info visit RockTheBells.net.
