Rapper C-Murder was granted a second trial Tuesday (April 7) just six months after being found guilty for second-degree murder.
C-Murder (real name: Corey Miller), younger brother of music mogul Master P, received the ruling due to the prosecution withholding key information about witnesses, who held criminal records being offered special consideration for their testimony, according to a statement from the rapper's lawyer Ron Rakosky.
The prosecution have stated that they were unaware of the witness' records and will appeal the decision for new trial.
Judge Martha Sassone has scheduled a hearing on Monday to decide whether Miller should be released on bail.
Miller was convicted in September 2002 of second-degree murder for the slaying of 16-year-old aspiring rapper Steve Thomas at the Platinum Club in Harvey, Louisiana, which comes with a mandatory life sentence without parole if convicted.
