Brown was sentenced Wednesday (March 24) to jail, this time in Massachusetts' Norfolk County, for failing to paying $63,000 in back child-support to his ex-girlfriend Kim Ward, who he has two kids with.
The singer has been under court order to pay $5,500 a month to Ward since the early '90s, which he has been paying until last May.
"It was an emergency based upon the fact that the family of Mr. Brown's ex-girlfriend was without any income," Patrick McDermott of the Norfolk County Register of Probate said in a statement, "and him basically not having paid since last May has made their financial situation grave, to the tune that they may lose their home."
Brown would have been released Thursday from a Georgia jail, for good behavior, but instead, he was summoned to appear in Massachusetts for the second time, and Judge Paula Carey sentenced him to jail time. Her decision came after Brown failed to appear at a previous court date.
Brown is scheduled back in court May 5 on misdemeanor battery charges, for allegedly hitting wife, Whitney Houston, back in December of 2003.
