A judge ruled in R. Kelly's favor in court on Thursday (March 11), when he said that photos obtained at the singer's residence in Florida could not be used to try him on child-pornongraphy charges.
The singer was facing 12 counts of child pornography in Florida where authorities seized a digital camera during a June 2002 drug raid of his home, but the ruling has taken care of those charges.
The judge did grant a warrant to search Kelly's home originally, but the new ruling by Judge Dennis Maloney supports Kelly's attorneys argument stating that there was not enough evidence to search in the first place.
Kelly was not present for the ruling, but his Chicago-based lawyer, Ed Genson, told the Associated Press that Kelly was "very pleased" with the news.
The ruling is small victory, but it does not affect the other 14 counts of child pornography in Chicago, which was dropped from 21 counts earlier this month (see "Several Charges Dropped In R. Kelly Child Porn Case").
