Hold on to ya hats because Louisiana native C Murder is back with his new album, Screamin 4 Vengeance. It's been a long time coming, but fans should not fear that gutta ish that you been feenin for is sure to resurface with C-Murder's latest. Miss Mama Mia X appears on the album along with Houston's own Slim Thug, Letoya, Chamillionaire and many others.
C-Murder's incarceration, though unfortunate, was time well spent. He has read over 500 books and today he's got author credits with his book Death Around the Corner, published under his own TRU Publishing.
Despite all the struggles -- jail, gag orders, police -- C-Murder has upped his game and shows no signs of slowing anytime soon. He's all over YouTube giving his fans a taste of the album and he's coming to a city near you by the end of July, so when you see the TRU in the sky, C-Murder has arrived.
BallerStatus.com: So what are you working on?
C-Murder: I'm over here on this record, which just released, ya heard me? I'm just strictly focusing on that and I got a book that's about to drop under Tru Publishing and that's coming July 19. It's a lot going on.
BallerStatus.com: What's the title of the book?
C-Murder: The book is called Thug Politics and it's coming out July 19.
BallerStatus.com: Your new album Screamin 4 Vengeance, what's the story behind the title? What artists and producers did you work with?
C-Murder: I mean the title, you know, I just been closed mouthed and silent for a while. I feel like this here, it's time for me to speak to my fans and release some of this negative energy I got. And that's what's happening -- Screamin 4 Vengeance. I'm bout to give it to em' raw. Some of the producers are my own team, which consists of 2 Saint of Deadly Sound Records, G Dinero and my homie Montez from Atlanta. We got some nice features on there. I got Mia X on the album and the Cutt Boys, so it's nice.
BallerStatus.com: Mia X on there, aw yeah. We haven't heard from Mia in a minute, so that is going to be nice.
C-Murder: And that's wassup.
BallerStatus.com: Compared to your previous albums, how personal is Screamin 4 Vengeance for you?
C-Murder: I mean it is personal because I just got a lot more to say. All of my albums are kind of personal, you heard me, but this one here, it's on and poppin'. I just got a lot to say that been held in for too long.
BallerStatus.com: You said your lyrical content and your subject matter is on a whole other level on this album, how so?
C-Murder: Yeah because I mean you got to upgrade your music and your lyrics every year. I feel like I didn't, so that's why I dropped this album and the fans to give me their feedback, ya feel me?
BallerStatus.com: Do you have a favorite track on the album?
C-Murder: Yeah, definitely one of my favorite tracks is one of the most gutta tracks on there called "My Set." It was actually produced by one of my homies from Baton Rouge. It's hot. It's gangsta, gully and it's crucial.
BallerStatus.com: Prior to writing your first book, Death Around the Corner, had you taken any journalism classes or is this just something you wanted to do?
C-Murder: Well you know, I had been reading so much, so I just set a goal for myself and I did it. I was real interested in being an author after reading so many books, so I started the process up.
BallerStatus.com: You inspire me man.
C-Murder: Off top.
BallerStatus.com: Last year we lost Pimp C and you recorded a song called "Take Your Time" in his memory? What did Pimp C mean to you and what do you think he meant to the music industry?
C-Murder: I mean, when Pimp came home I was still going through my situation and Pimp reached out to me. He did a lot for me and I really respect him for that. A lot of people don't care about the next man when they go home, so I felt like it was a brotherhood and we became real close, you know? We were actually about to put an album out together and that unfortunate situation happened; he passed. It was a sad thing, so you know I got in the booth and basically wanted to express myself and let people know the type of relationship we had because most people didn't know what was going on or know the type of person he was. That's why I was saying certain things in the song.
BallerStatus.com: What do you think Pimp C meant to the music industry?
C-Murder: I mean he was just straight up, like he said trill. He didn't bite his tongue for nobody and he felt like his music was his outlet and he could say what he wants to and be a man about it. That's what he represented.
BallerStatus.com: How does it feel to know that "Down For My N****s" is still a club banger? How does it feel to still have that effect on people? I don't know what the club scene is like there, but in Oklahoma, it's a fa sho club banger.
C-Murder: Yeah it's crucial. Man it feels good man to know something like that touches the people. It's a classic and everybody lets me know it's a street classic. It's good that everybody still getting crunk off of it and showing love.
BallerStatus.com: You've read over 500 books, what's the name of favorite book or author?
C-Murder: I have a few, but the Malcom X autobiography. My favorite author is Dean Koontz. I really like all of his novels.
BallerStatus.com: Why should people look out for C-Murder?
C-Murder: Because I'm coming with it. The album is going to speak for itself. It's on and poppin'. I want to release the record and hear what my fans have to say about it. In the future, I plan on doing more music, getting Tru Publishing and a lot of other artists out. I also want to start making some movies for these novels.
BallerStatus.com: Do you plan on going on tour anytime soon?
C-Murder: I will be on tour by the end of July.
BallerStatus.com: Anything you want to add?
C-Murder: It's on and poppin, ya boy is back. I can't wait to hit the road and see my fans because they've been really holding me down, straight up.
